Steps to Becoming a Barber Through Our Legacy Apprenticeship Program

 

1. Submit your inquiry

The first step is to apply. We’re looking for passionate, dedicated individuals who are eager to

learn. Be prepared to provide:

2. Attend an interview

After reviewing your application, we’ll invite selected applicants for an interview. This is an

opportunity to discuss your goals and see if our program is the right fit for you.

 

3. Begin apprenticeship

Once accepted, here’s what to expect:

Introduction Phase: Learn the basics of tools, sanitation, and customer service.

Hands-On Training: Practice haircuts, shaves, and grooming techniques under supervision.

Theory Classes: Gain knowledge in business management, sanitary practices, physiology as it

pertains to barbering, client interaction, haircut styles and hair textures.

 

4. Complete required hours

To become a licensed barber, you’ll need to complete a total of 2250 apprenticeship hours. We

will help you track your progress to meet these requirements.

 

5. Take the licensing exam

Upon completing your hours and training, we’ll support you in preparing for your Maryland

barber licensing exam.

 

 

Program Requirements

 

Age: Must be at least 18 years old

Commitment: Willing to dedicate 1–2 years to the program

Passion for the Craft: A focus for putting out quality work and working with people
